ASUS has announced that its much-anticipated Republic of Gamers (ROG) smartphone will be available for preorder on October 18th, 2018.
The device, which packs some of the highest-rated specs seen in any smartphone, is expected to run practically any mobile game and application available on the Android platform with unparalleled speed and visual fidelity.
Powering the ROG Phone is the combination of the Snapdragon 845 chipset, 8GB of RAM and options of 128GB and 512GB. The phone also comes standard with a dazzling AMOLED screen that produces superior images thanks to deeper blacks, better contrast, truer colors, better contrast and lower energy consumption.
The ROG Phone will come with several accessories sold separately to enhance your mobile gaming experience including:
- Mobile Desktop Dock – Hooks the phone up with a TV, a keyboard and a mouse for a larger display and more control options.
- TwinView Dock – Adds a second screen.
- WiGig Dock – Allows your phone to deck like a Nintendo Switch and outputs the display on a larger screen. It also allows you to use a physical controller for more precise handling.
- ASUS Professional Dock – Aside from outputting the image to a monitor or TV, it also allows your device to connect to the internet via Ethernet cable.
The 128GB ROG Phone will cost $899 while the 512GB one will come in at a whopping $1,099. With that kind of money, you can buy the base models of all current-generation game consoles or even build a decent gaming rig. Still, this is clearly aimed at people who take their mobile gaming seriously – and have substantial disposable income.
The preorder date applies to the US for now. We’ll keep you posted on the Philippine launch window.
