Good news: with a week to go before the hotly-anticipated Red Dead Redemption 2 launches, Rockstar has announced that the game can now be downloaded and pre-installed by gamers who pre-ordered it digitally.
The not so good news? The download will be massive, coming in at a whopping 99GB install size on the Sony PlayStation 4 and 107GB on the Microsoft Xbox One. Both versions will require an additional 50GB of free hard drive space during the installation process.
The game is expected to generate gigantic sales figures like Rockstar’s last major game release, Grand theft Auto V. GTA V went on to earn critical acclaim as well as historic commercial success as the core game and its online companion GTA Online eventually became the top earning entertainment releases of all time. That includes movies, books, music and other games.
Speaking of GTA Online, gamers who pre-ordered Red Dead Redemption 2 will receive $2,000,000 in in-game money in GTA Online. That should keep you entertained while you wait for Read Dead’s embargo to lift.
Set in the late years of the American Wild West, Read Dead Redemption 2 puts you in the boots of cowboy Arthur Morgan. True to its predecessor’s style, this game will be an open world experience where players can run around doing as they please. You can choose to follow the strict order of the law and take on the ,main story or you can wander around aimlessly, do side missions or be a homicidal maniac on horseback. The choice is almost always yours.
